f you're looking for a change of scenery for brunch or don't feel like the hectic atmosphere of town, then we've got the place for you. Grand Canal Dock is perfectly situated just out of the busy traffic of town. With a gorgeous view, great atmosphere and a whole selection of places for drinks you could end up spending a whole boozy afternoon here on a sunny weekend.
We started off with brunch in HQ. The staff were friendly and more than accommodating, seating us at a lovely table with a view of the docklands. For starters we ordered detox juices, which were light and refreshing and a great start to the meal.
Next, we ordered the cajun chicken burger, steak sandwich and French toast.
The chicken burger was amazing. It was served on a jalapeño flavoured bun with a bacon, Brie cheese, cajun sauce and all the usual burger trimmings. With fries included it was a seriously delicious meal for €14.50.
The steak sandwich was served on onions, relish and rocket salad. It also came with home cut fries and for €14.50 we couldn't really fault it- you can't go wrong with a steak sandwich! For the price, we thought it could have been a little bigger; but overall a fantastic tasting choice.
The French toast was quite a small portion also, but enjoyable nonetheless. It came with bacon and maple syrup, and there were a range of other options on the menu like mixed berries or lemon syrup.
For dessert, we just couldn't resist and had to head straight next door to herbstreet for their pancakes. With a choice of a stack of 3 (€5) or 6 (€7) and a huge range of extra options, these pancakes could possibly be one of the best we've had in Dublin. We ordered the chocolate chip stack of 6 with cream, and they were absolutely amazing. We couldn't recommend them enough! Topped off with cappuccinos, it really was the perfect end to an amazing brunch.
We've heard pretty great things about the brunch in herbstreet so we'll definitely be back to try it, but note that they don't take bookings and the waiting time can range from a few minutes to an hour. (We ran in during brunch and ordered a table for our pancakes!)
Our plan for next time is to head to herbstreet on a sunny day, put our names down on the waiting list and stroll around the docklands for a walk. We already cant wait!
